Hand Over the Stuffs to Him

I am trying to remember how I solved problems while I was unsaved. It must have been really difficult to overcome the blow, slap, punch and kick that life threw at me as an unbeliever because even now that I am saved and know that Jesus is my Lord and Savior, life still brings storms and waves that are so huge I cannot but wonder what it would have felt like if I did not have a connection to the One who is able to calm the storm and speak to the waves as my Ally.

Even though I cannot really remember how I solved some tough situations of life that I was confronted with while I was unsaved, there is at least one situation I remember very well. This is something that happened to me about 14 years ago and I remember all the details vividly today.

It was all about having to make a decision regarding what I did not intend talking to anyone about and I suddenly found myself praying and asking God to help me. As I said, I was not saved at that time neither did I have a relationship with God, but I look back today and I can boldly say that was one of the situations I was confronted with that made me run to God for help even though I knew I did not deserve His help. The question is “Did He help me?” Yes, He did! It was not about me deserving it, neither was it was about the tears I shed, it was simply as a result of His grace.

JEREMIAH 29:13

And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

God is gracious to both believers and unbelievers but there are some blessings He has reserved for those who have accepted His gift of salvation through His Son- Jesus Christ. Are you going to remain satisfied with crumblike blessings? Don’t you think it is better you humble yourself before the One who owns your life and admit that you need His help? Will you surrender all that you are and have to Him, knowing that He can decide to do as He pleases with Your life, time and resources whatever He chooses to do? Will you choose to solve the problems life brings your way all by yourself or will you choose to let Him help you solve them in His own way and for His glory?

Just as a slave cannot lay claims to the inheritance of his master’s son, you cannot boldly claim the blessings God has promised His children if you do not have a relationship with Him. You stand to lose nothing goodly and godly if you choose to receive the gift of salvation through Christ Jesus but you sure stand to gain much more than you can imagine. One thing you definitely stand to gain is the boldness to come before Him and ask for all that is according to His will.

HEBREWS 4:14-16

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Have you been running away from the One who can help you avoid making certain choices that will later lead to you been frustrated, defeated, crushed and messed up altogether? Why would you decide to run away from the One who is able to make your burden light and give you rest from all troubles, no matter how small or great they seem? This is a question humans have had to answer from one generation to another, yet it does not change the fact that man is always running from the very Person who is willing and capable to help at all times.

PSALM 46:1-2

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.

The kind of stuff that we are confronted with in this world we live in is not what anyone can handle on their own. Humble yourself before the Greatest one. Let Him help you through it all so that you can boldly say ” The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.” Shalom.
