Dear Father, You desire that we place You above every other thing or person. To fear man above You is to fall into avoidable errors. Saul was not ignorant of what he was doing when he obeyed You partially even after You gave him an express instruction to go and destroy all that was capable of standing against Israel- Your chosen people. His desire to please men, do as they desire and not as You instructed him was as a result of his thirst for power, position and the fear of being rejected. When a man fails to realize that as long as he was chosen by You, no one can take his place, such a person will by his human strength do all he can to remain relevant, accepted and loved by his superiors or followers. There is nothing as terrible as living a lie which is what Saul requested for from Prophet Samuel. Despite the fact that Saul knew You had rejected him, he requested that Prophet Samuel honor him before other leaders and his followers. Repentance only comes from admitting ones wrong and prayerfully deciding not to continue in or return to the same error(s). You will not reject a genuine cry of repentance because You have no delight in the death of a sinner. Teach me to fear You above the work of Your hands so that Your instructions will matter more to me than that of anyone who tries to tell me what is perceived as acceptable in the sight of men but in the real sense is capable of costing me divine placement. I choose to live for Your approval and not the approval of men. AMEN.
