There is no doubt about the fact that things are changing all over the world. These include Political trends, health, economy, weather, technology and so much more. The younger generation seems to be moving at a really fast pace, so much that it is easy to think that anyone who is unwilling to move at the same pace will soon realize he or she has been left behind.
I am one of those who finds it difficult to connect with the world via social media and various technologies that are available in this time we live in because of my personal observation of the distractions that come with them. I realize however that it hurts badly when there is a need for me to connect for some impactful reasons and I simply cannot. My consolation, however, has always been that whatever I need to do for His glory through these platforms end up been done somehow without me having to deal with the distractions that come with such platforms.
Just recently, I made up my mind to catch up with technology by working on my website myself. It ended up being a disaster and I must admit that it got me so confused that I had to contact the amazing professional who helped me set up the website sometimes ago. At the time I realized how much mess I had made of the site, I had the option of either contacting my web designer or try to fix the mess I made by making more mess.
I needed no one to tell me that I could not fix it because I was very much aware of the gravity of the mistakes I had made while trying to do what I was not qualified to do. Knowing how sincere and blunt my web designer can be, I asked hubby to help me find a solution to the problem I had caused but he could not. I had no other option than to call my capable web designer after I had wasted about 5 hours trying to fix what I had no understanding of.
By the time I contacted my technically able web designer, the epistle he sent me revealed how much damage I had caused and how lucky I was that the damage I made to the website was not irredeemable. My thought as I read his message was “Although his words of rebuke came out quite strong, thank God I did not lose everything on my website as a result of my ignorance.”
The best option we have when we cannot fix the problems of life is to go back to the Giver of life, the very one who knew what He wanted to make out of our lives even before He made us. Just like my web designer, God is the professional who knows where to visit whenever we have made a mess of our lives. We really do not need to try to fix what we did not put together in the first place because the end result is bound to be worse than we can imagine if we try to do so.
We save ourselves a lot of time and energy when we turn to the right place for help when it is needed. Quit trying to fix what you cannot fix because you want to prove a point, measure up or fit into a trend. That everybody is doing it does not always mean you have to do it. Somethings are not just your own thing even though they are someone else’s. The time you would spend doing what ought to be done by somebody else can be spent doing what you were born to do, thereby making you more impactful.
Just like me, quite a lot of people are trying to fix some stuff in their lives because the other person is also trying hard to do the same and they will be considered capable and trendy if they try doing it themselves. Quit trying to do it your way or someone else’s way, turn to the One who is able and willing to help you do it His own way. God does not just want you to see Him as the Creator but also as the One who is able to do the impossible. Why struggle to fix it yourself when there is a fix option that comes with ease?
