“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
~~ 1 Corinthians 15:57
Whoever says following Christ means having it all rosy and smooth must be joking. It comes with constant challenges and amazing victories. Hubby and I headed out to our assigned missions base after several weeks of trusting God for direction regarding the specific field to serve in. The day of departure finally came and we were excited as we looked forward to having fun on a 9 hours journey by road.
We hired an Uber to take us to the bus station, requesting that he stops by at the nearest bank so we could get some cash that will be needed for the trip, considering that we were uncertain about accessibility to any bank at the base we were posted to. As soon as hubby was done at the bank, the uber driver drove out, heading for the bus station only to drive into a tricycle and all I could see was a tricycle somersaulting over and over right in front of our cab while nothing happened to the car we were riding in, not even a scratch.
The good news is that as bad as the accident was, no one was badly hurt even though the tricycle was badly damaged. An observer walked up to me and said ” whatever prayers you said before heading out of your house this morning obviously worked because this is beyond human understanding. This could have been worse and at least one life could have been lost judging from the way the tricycle kept somersaulting”. As I listened to those words, I remembered God’s promise to keep us safe from any accident on our way and I knew it was not about how well we prayed but how much of His mercy and grace He decided to bestow upon us as His beloved.
Although our journey was delayed for an hour because we had to get the police involved and all that, the joy that filled our heart was in knowing that it could have been worse but Jesus stepped in and gave us a testimony out of what could have been a hindrance to continuing on the journey. This was not a shipwreck like in the case of Paul who despite all odds trusted God for safety and it was so ( Acts 27: 1-44).
Let the journey continue… Let’s reach the unreached for Christ’s sake. We are indeed unstoppable because our God is with us.
To be Continued…
