Miracles Still Happen

It is easy to get carried away in this present world and believe miracles no longer happen. I am talking about awesome happenings that will make you and everyone else marvel, something beyond the natural.

I mean the occurrence of events like tuition paid in full, debts cancelled, help from an unknown or unexpected source, free accommodation, or the gift of a dream house, cash gift, or constant supply of material needs, getting a call that explains how a relative or someone you probably never knew so much transferred all his assets to you, getting a promotion that you are sure you do not deserve, or getting a promotion days after you laid your termination letter before God in prayers, healing from what the doctors called “incurable”, or the dead in the mortuary coming back to life after some days.

As fictional as all these may sound, i carefully chose those examples, because they are things i have seen happen to a very few people, which actually confirms that miracles still happen, because our God is still the same as He was in the days of old and He will never change. HEBREWS 13:8

We are limited by our own selves and this is the reason miracles are not as pronounced as they were in the days of old. Rewind back to the  the days of Elijah, when a poor widow fed a starving man of God with her last meal that ended up being more than enough in the midst of famine, because God Himself had prior to that time told the man of God about His plan to feed His servant through that means. 1 KINGS 17

Fast forward to my generation, a child of God believes he has to save up so much to avoid starvation in the times of famine. For us, it is not about how God can provide for all our needs, but how we can work things out ourselves to secure the future, Little wonder man keeps working , yet he complains of insufficiency. Miracles still happen, if we let God have His way.

The belief of man is that if you work for it, you will earn it. Hence, man’s reason for working so hard, he forsakes his Maker. Interestingly, when it comes to God, you do not need to deserve a thing before you get it. All you need to do is to obtain favor with Him, after which you deserving it or not does not matter.

There are several events recorded in the Scriptures, that encourages us to rely absolutely on God for all things, including miraculous supply of undeserved blessings. Jesus, Peter, Paul, Abraham, Issac, Elijah, Elisha, and so many others are perfect examples of God’s miraculous supply in several areas of life.

Those were days when a Raven (naturally selfish creature) fed the servant of God, the days when people were willing to sell everything and bring it to the feet of the Apostles, so the poor could have enough to survive and feel loved and accepted, days when needs were supplied through the mouth of a fish, days when the job of a person was not what defined who he or she is, or what a person is capable of doing.

The present day is such that makes us lay up so much for the tomorrow we are not even sure will come. What a lot of people call miracles now are results achieved through man’s effort put into a thing. Jesus did not have any bread or fish, neither did He have with Him bags of money kept for that purpose, before deciding to feed the multitude, all He had was a desire to feed the crowd. That is what i call a “Miracle.” MATTHEW 14:13-21, MARK 8:1-9

We now live in a time when there is a need to keep the little or more that we have, because of the fear of the next moment. We live in a time when it is believed that the more effort we put into” our work”, the more successful we become, forgetting that success is not about money alone, but all round achievements, which includes marital, spiritual, mental, emotional, financial, health, academical, and ultimately eternal success. JOSHUA 1:8

Miracles are supernatural, and not inspired by man. God is willing to make each moment of our lives a miracle. The question is “Can we trust Him enough, and depend less on our effort?”
