Inverted Vision

I was trying to think of a time which i did the wrong thing and was caught right in the middle of it and how i reacted, then one of the adorable young boys i met recently did something that is perfect for me to use as an example, so i had no need to look further for another.

I had just given this young boy an instruction to stay in a designated area for a period of time , while i attended to some other things. Surprisingly, i needed to get something close to where he was , then i saw him trying to sneak out of the area i asked him to remain in, but it was too late, i had already caught him.

As i remember the look he had on his face, when he realized i just caught him red handed, i cannot but smile, because it was a sorry, yet funny look. He acted like he would have loved to turn back the hands of time and make right his wrong.

For everyone who has a conscience, we act the same way, when we know we have disobeyed God. We feel ashamed and wish we could go back into the past minutes, hours, seconds, weeks, months, years, just to undo what has been done.

The good news is we do not have to remain ashamed or scared when we are caught in an unacceptable act. Shame keeps its victim on the ground, crushed and defeated, but this is not God’s will for us. Instead, He desires that we move on , admitting how wrong we know we were and how much we desire not to displease Him.

The funny thing about the feeling of shame and fear as a result of wrong doing is that it does not make things better. The only thing it is capable of doing is to make things worse.

We need to realize that there is no point in holding on to our wrong doings, or guilt. What is acceptable is that we need to admit our wrong and confess it, this is what enables us to get over it!.
