Everything God created is for a reason or several reasons. I have always said to myself that God has no reason to create what is of no use and this is based on my understanding of the fact that God is not a time waster, neither is He a resource waster. JOHN 6: 12-13
Emotions are part of what God put in humans from the very beginning, and it is important we live with this understanding, so that we can make the best of these valuables that God deposited in us from the very beginning.
There is no doubt about the fact that a lot of people use their emotions wrongly or in an unhealthy manner, but this does not mean it has to be the pattern of our lives. Emotions are abused when they are used based on our own decisions and conclusions, not putting into consideration The One who who planted these things in us .
Looking through the pages of the Holy Word of God- The Bible, there are a lot of people we can learn from, regarding how they used their emotions to do either the wrong or the right things and i am going to journey with you in the next few posts talking about these people and how we can learn from the decisions they made as a result of how they handled their emotions.
Emotions like i earlier said are inbuilt. God Himself, from the beginning of creation inputted it in man and gave man the free will to use it as he pleases. Being the Good Father that He is however, He advises man to use the free will given to him rightly and in a way that it produces life in the place of death. Man is therefore responsible for what he makes out of what God has placed in him.
DEUTERONOMY 30:19
” I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
Some of the emotions i will be talking about for a while by the mercies of God includes : Pain, Anger, Fear, Shame, Love, Lust, Envy, Joy, Sadness, Pride, Trust and Defeat. All these are just some of the several emotions that are a part of us as humans and funny enough animals also.
The essence of looking at these things, is to enable us admit that they are a part of us and should not be treated like it is to be avoided or ignored or not expressed openly. Making sure they are expressed in godliness and consideration of the other person is what matters.
The lie we have been made to believe however is that we do not have the permission to express our feelings, especially as Christians or Believers. Little wonder, many people die in hurt and guilt.
A close look at the Scriptures will enlighten us more on this issue and many more things that can positively impact our personal, family, ministerial, career, marital life and financial lives.
I will leave you with these words of wisdom i came up with for a better me…
“I am not a robot, i am a woman who has feelings and wants to be treated that way. This is why as much as it is within my power, God expects me to treat others like they have emotions just like myself.”
LUKE 6:31
” And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”
The best way to make use of our emotions is to bring it under the subjection of Christ. Anything short of this will ultimately promote destruction, discord and disunity, which is a waster of any people or Nation. 1 CORINTHIANS 15: 27
