NATIONAL ANTHEM

Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey

To serve our fatherland

With love and strength and faith

The labour of our heroes past

Shall never be in vain

To serve with heart and might

One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.

Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause

Guide our leader’s right

Help our youth the truth to know

In love and honesty to grow

And living just and true

Great lofty heights attain

To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.

Nigeria, my nation has one of the simplest, yet beautiful national anthem I have ever heard and I do not just say this because I am a Nigerian, I say this because it is what it is.

Not only are the words of our national anthem prophetic, they are also prayer- like in nature. There is however, something worthy of note when it comes to the National Anthem, the second stanza which is the one that is more prophetic in nature has been ignored for a very long time.

My generation does not recite it , neither does my children’s generation, yet it is full of powerful words that are capable of effecting a change and shifting things in the Spirit realm if declared continously. After all, words are powerful and what we say becomes.

The Lord has been our help in ages past and He is our hope for years to come and as a people, we do not take His love and mercy over us for granted. We have been through a lot as a people, yet the Lord has been faithful, compassionate and kind to us.

With a heart of gratitude and appreciation, join me this day to celebrate the God of all creation as my nation clocks 60.
.

Prayer.

Dear God, I thank You for all You have done for us as a nation and for who You have been to us – a Father and a Friend. I speak the life of Jesus Christ into my nation and I declare that my nation belongs to You.
I refuse to be silent and so I declare that you are the Lord over our land. Let there be light and let righteousness rule in every sector of our nation. Let the activities of darkness come to an end and let Your mercy prevail over judgement in our land.

You are the God of all gods and so we subject every other gods under Your authority as we decree and declare that You reign above them all. Let every power that wrestles against the peace, joy, prosperity and growth of our nation be destroyed. We command every street, town, community, villages to declare Your praise.

Let the wind of positive change blow in our land and instill Your fear in the heart of our leaders ( Spiritual, Political, in homes and offices, etc). Teach the citizens to be loyal, God fearing and committed to the growth and unity of our land. Teach our youths to fear, honor and obey You. You have set us free, we refuse to remain bound in poverty, ungodliness, immorality, greed, selfishness, all forms of foolishness, fraudulent lifestyle and unrighteousness. My nation is blessed indeed and we proper in all things to the praise and glory of Your name. Amen.
