The danger of impatience

We are usually encouraged to imbibe Patience as a worthy virtue. As a young child the quote “The patient dog eats the fattest bone” was regularly said to me by my elders.

However as I transitioned to an adult, I realized that we rarely apply the admonition from that quote as I have never met people who cannot wait for anything like people who have the same nationality with me.

Parents usually expect their children to be able to read and probably write almost everything because they want to prove a point that their children are smart or that they attend a really good school. As a matter of fact , it does not matter if that child’s brain cannot comprehend such task, it just has to work, because we cannot wait to prove a point.

It continues with forcing people to get married at a particular age without considering whether they have genuinely met their life partners or not. We just want our children to get married because their age mates are married or other people’s children have got married.

Boarding a bus is another area where are impatience is so apparent, it is so bad that people end up abusing, pushing or even fighting with one another just to get a seat in a public bus. When it comes to parties or social gathering as well, waiting to be served food or drinks can lead to an outburst of anger that will leave you wondering if they genuinely came to rejoice with the celebrants or they just came to eat.

It is so funny that the same inability to wait spreads across the world, but i believe it differs in nature, considering the orderliness that is present in some other nations . I only used my nation as an example because I know how it is with us.

Waiting is not something so easy yet learning how to wait is beneficial. It takes a working system, laid down rules, principles, and instructions to enable a man wait, else the human nature is ordinarily impatient. God expects us as His children to wait and not go ahead of Him. This shows how much we trust and honour God .

Saul failed to wait and he ended up losing the throne 1 Samuel 13,

Psalms 27:13-14
“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”

Do you mind waiting for God’s best ? Do you mind entering into His rest in His own time ? If you do not mind, it is absolutely certain you are in for the best.

  1. I am encouraged by this write-up. Although it’s not an easy thing to wait. as One thing that eats into our faith while in WAITING is the F-false,E-evidence,A-appearing,R-real. D devil drops it in our thoughts, attimes throws it in our face, but walking with His and learning about him daily gives us the courage we need.i don’t know of any man who could be more discouraged than the man by d pool of Bethsesda. He saw people’s miracle happen but it never got to him until that appointed day he didn’t even need to get into that pool but met with the great healer himself. His own miracle was unique and made hears tingle. That is what happens when we don’t give in to what gimmicks the devil plans to use in toiling with our faith. God gives the best to his loyal children.
