Dear Father, Your Word points at how much You detest pride. Even as mortals, we cannot stand people who think too highly of themselves, act rudely or arrogantly towards others. The proud does not enjoy Your favour, because he thinks he can do it all by his strength. Humility on the other hand brings our way what we do not naturally qualify for, because the humble experiences Your lifting. We enjoy Your blessings when we esteem You more than we esteem ourselves, ability or achievement. Humility is what makes a man admit that You are God above all, and that You deserve the glory for all that we are, have and will ever be. Because the proud is the god of himself, he gives You little or no honour and this is unacceptable before You. Help me to walk in humility, so I can please You with my life and serve others with every gift You have given to me, not with vain ambition, but with all sincerity of heart. AMEN.
