A hug, smile, gift or words of encouragement, as little or insignificant as these things may seem, they are really important and they help to strengthen our lives and relationships.
I was at a function sometimes ago and I saw a woman I had not seen in a long time, although I was very busy and stressed me, I left what I was doing and hugged her as we exchanged pleasantries.
I didn’t know that the hug I gave her was a means of reassuring her of God’s love for her. As we talked and caught up on old times, she told me the warm embrace I gave her assured her God still cares for her even if a lot of people don’t.
Unknown to me, she had met quite a number of people in the same gathering who did not ask after her while she was absent.
I am not saying I did the right thing because I am perfect. I would have being like any other person who saw her and cared less about her presence, considering that I was very busy.
The only reason I took time out to embrace her, ask about her well being and that of her family, is because I thought within myself that i would want the same thing done to me if I was in her shoes.
Doing to others what we want done to use makes a whole lot of difference, yet we most times take it for granted and end up hurting people’s feelings.
Sometimes it’s not only about the really big things , but the little things make a noticeable difference.
A word of appreciation, meal, ride, debt cancellation, word of prayer, handshake, helping hand and an act of forgiveness can make a person experience Heaven on earth.
Jesus fed the crowd after preaching to them for 3 days. He could have acted like feeding them physically was not important, considering that He sacrificed His time and energy to bring them the message of the gospel, which of course is more important than physical food.
Little wonder each time He was preaching somewhere , there was always so many people , because they know Christ takes into consideration the little things that matter
Do something simple, yet encouraging or reassuring for someone today.
