Caught In The Web Of The Devil’s Lie?

From a research that I made, a lot of believers, I mean at least 85% have found it so hard to move on as a result of a lie that the devil told them. Condemnation is one of the devil’s greatest weapons against believers, especially the younger generation. He flashes our past right before our eyes and makes us feel we aren’t fit for the race set before us.

Believers between the age of 16-30 have this condemnation thing really common amongst them. This is as a result of who they were before they gave their lives to Christ. The devil uses their past as a means of getting them trapped and unable to progress in their journey as believers. He has even gone ahead of the younger generation by putting philosophies in place and so these philosophies already became a standard. As a result, the device of condemnation is now made really effective if care isn’t taken.

A very good example is one of the 12 laws of karma, “Whatever thoughts or energy we put out, comes back to us, whether good or bad”. This has been generally interpreted as “What goes around comes around”. This philosophy as crippled many people’s walk with God because of the fear of their actions. I know for sure that what a man sows he will reap, God cannot be mocked. This is applicable to those who don’t repent. It’s not applicable to you after being born again.

Let’s see it this way, if the Word of God tells us in 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW CREATION; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” If His Word says “I’m a new creation”, how come there’s still a past I’m concerned about? This is to say my past isn’t existing again.

When people get to talk about this, they would say “Even Apostle Paul still suffered as a result of persecuting Christians, he was beheaded”. I’d correct this by saying “Apostle Paul was beheaded for the sake of the Gospel and not as a result of whatever he had done”. John was also beheaded and there was no record of his misdeeds. Now don’t get me wrong, if you claim to have given your life to Christ and you continue in wrongdoings, you are messing up your new life already.

When we go through trying times as Christians, one thing I know the devil does is to flash our past before us and tell us that “Your present situation is a punishment of your past misdeeds”, just to make you feel bad. That’s a big lie! Whatever situation you are going through, having sought your Heavenly Father’s mind concerning it and you are sure it is not about any besetting sin or result of disobedience , you can be sure it is the Lord making you stronger in Faith. God is not a man that would want to pay you back in your own coin after being reconciled with Him.

Another way the devil uses this tactic is by employing it at the point of “New Birth”. He tells you “Do you think you can be accepted by Jesus as dirty as you are?”. The Good news is – CHRIST IS A PURIFIER! (Titus 2:14). This is a good response to give the devil. You are unclean, no doubt. He will clean you up, that’s what He does. He makes men pure. Halleluyah!

Condemnation is a very big obstacle to breaking new grounds in the Spirit. You have a responsibility to get your identity right! You are a child of the King, don’t let the devil trap you with his lie. Your past doesn’t exist again once you are born into the family of God. Freely tap into all that belongs to you without any sense of not belonging, because you truly belong to the Kingdom of life, light, and new beginnings.
