Daily Declaration- The Lion and the Lamb

Dear Father, You are not who quite a lot of people believe You are. You are perceived by some like the God who simply delights in striking those who err with a rod. When the wicked forsake wickedness, You are quick to forgive him. When a prodigal child returns Home, Your arms are always wide open to receive him. When a man declares You as God and gives You the glory due to Your name, You lift Him up. You do not delight in the destruction of the soul of anyone. None of all these attributes shows that You are always out to use Your rod of correction on us when there is no need for it. Your mercy brings pardon to anyone who admits their fault and decides to make right their wrongs. You always leave us with the choice to follow You or go our own way even in the most difficult situations. You are not just the Lion and the Consuming fire, You are also the Lamb who is meek and gentle. Help me to see You as the God who despite His merciful and compassionate nature will not hesitate to discipline those who err. Your correction leads to life and I will not see it as a path to destruction or death. Let Your rod fall on the wicked whose heart is set to destroy and let Your mercy come upon those who will humbly turn to You in repentance. AMEN.
