Growing In Christ

With Jesus in my Heart……….

“With Jesus in her heart and Coffee in her hand , she is unstoppable”. This was written on a beautiful T-shirt, worn by a lady I met recently. I was drawn to that inscription, so much that I almost missed the information she was trying to pass on to everyone as she held the microphone at a gathering, where I met her for the first time .

As a result of the inscription on her T-shirt, I learnt some  amazing lessons that I probably would not have paid so much attention to, had I not seen those words beautifully printed out on that T-shirt.

One lesson I learnt is that at salvation, God does not change our hands or legs, what He changes is what will eventually control what comes into our hands or what we do with our hands, and also that which instructs our legs in the way to go.What God changes is our hearts.

EZEKIEL 36:26

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

God’s interest in our hearts being connected to Him, does not mean we cannot have any other thing we love. This implies that my love for God does not deprive me of the delicious and interesting things I love, as long as these things are not sinful, or detrimental to my Spiritual or physical well being.Read More »With Jesus in my Heart……….

Unpleasant Situations Reveal His Glory

It is quite easy to judge people when they go through unpleasant situations. At such times, we are quick to believe it is as a result of their sin or imperfection, not remembering how unworthy we are as well.

JOB 4: 3-8(NKJV)

Surely you have instructed many,
And you have strengthened weak hands.
Your words have upheld him who was stumbling,
And you have strengthened the feeble knees;
 But now it comes upon you, and you are weary;
It touches you, and you are troubled.
Is not your reverence your confidence?
And the integrity of your ways your hope?

“Remember now, who ever perished being innocent?
Or where were the upright ever cut off?
 Even as I have seen,
Those who plow iniquity
And sow trouble reap the same.

It is also common for people to be quick to judge others when it looks like they are giving up on God or complaining about the unpleasant situation(s) they are faced with. Before we judge them, it is important we ask ourselves if we would have handled things better, if we find ourselves in their shoes.

MATTHEW 7:1-5( NKJV)

Judge not, that you be not judged.  For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.  And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?  Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

There is no excuse for having the wrong attitude in the times of pain or despair, yet a lot of times, such people cannot help themselves to reason the right way, which is why seeking God and depending on Him is the surest way out at such times.

Some people have given up on God already, while some are at the point where they want to do so, as a result of the challenge(s) they are faced with. It sometimes gets so bad that they doubt His existence and professed love for His Own.

JEREMIAH 15: 10( NKJV)

 Woe is me, my mother,
That you have borne me,
A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth!
I have neither lent for interest,
Nor have men lent to me for interest.
Every one of them curses me.”

This is quite understandable, considering that the period of trials is naturally not such an interesting or exciting one. Sadly, the devil knows that getting people to think that God does not truly care for them as much as He says, is an easy way to get them to turn their back against God.Read More »Unpleasant Situations Reveal His Glory

He Paid the Price

Everything good comes with a price. The price to be paid for some good things differ from what is to be paid for others however.

As much as no one prays for battles or bloodshed, this is sometimes the price that is needed to be paid for a Nation to gain its freedom or independence from slavery or the control of another Nation or People.

That Christ died on the Cross is not a news. The worth of the price He paid by going to the Cross is what cannot be quantified or explained by the natural man.Read More »He Paid the Price
