Everything good comes with a price. The price to be paid for some good things differ from what is to be paid for others however.
As much as no one prays for battles or bloodshed, this is sometimes the price that is needed to be paid for a Nation to gain its freedom or independence from slavery or the control of another Nation or People.
That Christ died on the Cross is not a news. The worth of the price He paid by going to the Cross is what cannot be quantified or explained by the natural man.
Looking at it from the perspective of Him dying for the undeserving, it is difficult for the natural man to understand why Jesus had to do what He did, just for the sake of reconciling the world back to God. This is however the proof of His endless and unconditional love, which is what qualifies us for salvation.
ROMANS 5:8
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
We may not understand the worth or value of His death on the Cross, neither may we ever be able to find it easy to analyse the cost of His sufferings all because of a wretch like us, but there is one thing the Bible makes very clear, and it is that we were not deserving, yet He paid the price, not minding our limitations or flaws.
When a groom pays the bride price in my culture, the parents of the bride return it. This comes with the explanation of the fact that their daughter is worth more than the amount of money a man can pay them for their daughter. In some culture however, the bride price is more important than any other thing that comes with the marriage rites.
Jesus did not have to pay money as a price for His bride, else it would have been a price that any other person who claims to be a groom can pay. He paid the price of dying the death of shame, reproach and humiliation, even in the hands of those He created.
MATTHEW 26:65- 67
“Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! What do you think?”
They answered and said, “He is deserving of death.” Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?”
The price Jesus paid is so great, no one is justified for any reason to take Him for granted. What are you doing with this grace so amazing that paid the price for your salvation and justification?
EPHESIANS 2:8- 9
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
