Doing good to others has a way of bringing good back to us in ways we sometimes do not expect.
Sometimes however, we think keeping what we have to ourselves is what makes us bleseed or have in abundance. This is not the case when it comes to God.
Proverbs 11:24-25 New International Version (NIV)
24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
25 A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
How do you explain that scattering what you have all around you and sometimes far abroad can produce increase? Knowing fully well that giving away things actually reduces what you have left physically speaking?
God sees everything we release or let go as seeds and as long as seeds are released and not held on to, they produce increase eventually.
Jesus is a perfect example of a seed that was sown, and the Father got increase in the number of souls added to the kingdom all around the world as a result of this act.
Right after the death and resurrection of Jesus, souls were added to the Church in an unusual and unexplainable manner. Thanks to the giving up of the precious soul of the Messiah for the salvation of the world. A worthwhile scattering that spread across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Australia, Antarctica , and the whole world as a matter of fact.
If Jesus had remained a seed held on to in Israel till His death, the world would not have experienced the saving grace that He was born to release to all, which is why at the moment of His pain and shame, He almost changed his mind, considering the unbearable pain He saw ahead of Him, but His understanding of the power of giving up something in order to gain so much more in return took Him through the journey to the Cross, as He kept seeing the millions of souls that will be liberated, redeemed, delivered, restored , healed, as a result of just His own life being given up.
Did Christ get anything in return for being so liberal with His own soul ? Yes He did.
Philippians 2:9-11 New International Version (NIV)
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
If you make refreshing others a goal in your life, you will also be refreshed in return. Let go of what is in you hand for others to benefit from ministerially, finacially, mentally, career wise, spiritually , maritally , and in every way possible and you will discover how amazing it is to be so liberal with what we unnessarily hold on tightly to
