Only To Realize Later…

“His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.”

~ John 12:16

My first birthday as a married woman was undeniably amazing. It was not just the kind of birthday that was fun filled, but it was one that was so significant as hubby used this opportunity to make a statement. I got the perfect gift I had wanted (A Bilingual Bible) and several other sides I did not ask for or expect.

I  considered the Bible he gave me the best ever because it came at a time I needed it the most. At that point, I had personally thought that this bilingual Bible was never going to become an alternative the way the previous ones ended. He had written the most beautiful words in this Bible and I was so certain I wanted to see those words each time I pick up my Bible to read, hence the reason this special gift was not going to become just like any other.

Seven years later however, an amazing brother and friend of the family gave our family a Bible as a gift and I gradually  began to make this gift which was meant to be a family Bible my own personal study Bible. I simply found this new Bible easy to understand and for some reason, I would  just pick it up each time I needed to study the Bible.

About a year after I started using this new Bible that was gifted to us, I was studying and needed another Bible for reference purpose and I found myself reaching out for my special, first birthday after wedding gift, only to realize I had to strain my eyes to read it. Something had changed, I could not make use of what I never imagined I would ever replace. I had began to use prescription glasses at this time and I never knew how much of a blessing the new Bible was until I had a reason to compare the old and the new Bible print size. With the new Bible, I could read without reaching out for my glasses but with the old, I developed headache straining my eyes whenever I tried reading without my glasses.

Moral of this story; Ahead of time, God had made provision for a larger print for me and I did not in anyway realize it, until there was a basis for comparison. He is always at work in our lives, working relentlessly so that we can have all that will make life easier for us, but we sometimes do not know it. We only become aware of this truth when certain events take place and have a basis for comparison, then we begin to see how much He had prepare all things ahead of time on our behalf.

Having God as our Father is a great blessing because He is proactive enough to go ahead of us in making the crooked ways straight, make a way for us where there is no way, and also to make all things beautiful for us.  There is nothing that comes our way which is outside of His knowledge. We can only but realize later how much He loves us making all things work together for our good even when it does not seem like it from the beginning.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

We have a Father who is “Holy and Love” personified. Unlike our earthly fathers who are fallible, yet do all they can to give us what they consider best for us, Our Heavenly Father is infallible and can give us so much more, especially when we ask Him.

Matthew 7:11

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Do you trust Him enough to take care of your present and future? Is He your Father indeed? He is seeking for a relationship with you, just let Him into your heart and allow Him take care of every situation in His own way. You will come to realize later that His desire for a relationship with you was actually the best for you.

John 13:7

Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

  1. If only we can trust Him absolutely and patiently follow as He directs, then we will see ourselves thankful at every point in our lives.
