The Journey Begins

A night before embarking on the trip that  would end up being my best trip ever, I sat quietly in the car as hubby drove into the car park and my question to him that night was ” Do we have to make this trip?” Not thinking twice, he replied ” this is not about what we want to do but what He will have us do. The last time I checked, He has not changed His mind. We will do just as He says.” Silently, I picked up my bags of shopped items needed for the trip and walked slowly up the stairs as I said a silent prayer in my head ” Lord, teach me to walk in Your will no matter how hard it gets.”  I got my peace back and did a final check of our stuff that we had spent some days putting together for the trip.

We had finally come to the day of taking a bold step of faith, trusting Him to lead us all the way. We had a light breakfast and thought of how to get our ( actually mine) huge boxes into a Cab. The sad news was that my own bags were too huge to fit into just any car. This has always been my major trouble while travelling. A friend had previously assured us that her husband will be available to pick us up but he later called in to say he would be at work at that time. We prayed about the situation and went on to enjoy our breakfast when my phone suddenly rang and it was a friend who had a van that called, saying he was passing by our area. That’s the solution I thought … God sent him at the right time and the problem was solved.

As we waited to board the first flight, I noticed a lady with a cute little baby dancing lightly to calm her baby down. I silently prayed for her to enjoy the flight because having a restless baby on board is definitely not what any mother would wish for. Hubby and I soon realized there was a mistake in the seat numbers given to us and this meant we were going to seat separately and I could not just imagine it. We spoke to one of the flight attendants and she apologised, promising to do her best to ensure we sit together. I knew there was a reason for the mix-up and I asked in my heart that God will allow that purpose to be established.

The attendant went ahead as we followed her, trusting for seats that will enable us to sit together. she suddenly smiled and pointed at 2 seats that were vacant and asked that we occupy them. The lady with the little baby was sitting on the same roll and we smiled at each other as I sat next to her and hubby sat next to me. She had one of the cutest boys I have ever seen and he sat quietly on her laps. looking into my eyes with a big smile on his face. I love babies, especially cute ones and so I smiled back as I asked him if he was ready for a nice flight.

As much as I wanted to keep to myself, I was so sure God wanted me to speak with the lady sitting next to me and  I was quick to come up with several reasons she was to be left alone. None of my excuses was good enough and so I started a conversation that led to us talking about the love of Christ, His mercy and grace. While we discussed, her little cutie slept off and so she was not in any way distracted, which gave us the opportunity to really discuss.

The best part of the story is that the Kingdom of God had a soul added to it at the end of our conversation and as she wept and hugged me as a result of God’s revelation of the state of her heart and everything she admitted were secrets known only to her but revealed by God while we spoke, I needed no one to tell me the challenge we had regarding the mix-up in seat numbers was indeed a blessing in disguise and all things indeed worked together for her good and ours.

“Ride on Jesus!” I screamed in my heart as I rejoiced over this one soul that Heaven was rejoicing over yet I had no full understanding of what this journey was going to be all about, except that Jesus will be glorified, my family will be blessed, and all those He will bring our way will be blessed as well. Is this not worth desiring to continue on the journey?

The Journey continues…
