Unpleasant Situations Reveal His Glory

It is quite easy to judge people when they go through unpleasant situations. At such times, we are quick to believe it is as a result of their sin or imperfection, not remembering how unworthy we are as well.

JOB 4: 3-8(NKJV)

Surely you have instructed many,
And you have strengthened weak hands.
Your words have upheld him who was stumbling,
And you have strengthened the feeble knees;
 But now it comes upon you, and you are weary;
It touches you, and you are troubled.
Is not your reverence your confidence?
And the integrity of your ways your hope?

“Remember now, who ever perished being innocent?
Or where were the upright ever cut off?
 Even as I have seen,
Those who plow iniquity
And sow trouble reap the same.

It is also common for people to be quick to judge others when it looks like they are giving up on God or complaining about the unpleasant situation(s) they are faced with. Before we judge them, it is important we ask ourselves if we would have handled things better, if we find ourselves in their shoes.

MATTHEW 7:1-5( NKJV)

Judge not, that you be not judged.  For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.  And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?  Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

There is no excuse for having the wrong attitude in the times of pain or despair, yet a lot of times, such people cannot help themselves to reason the right way, which is why seeking God and depending on Him is the surest way out at such times.

Some people have given up on God already, while some are at the point where they want to do so, as a result of the challenge(s) they are faced with. It sometimes gets so bad that they doubt His existence and professed love for His Own.

JEREMIAH 15: 10( NKJV)

 Woe is me, my mother,
That you have borne me,
A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth!
I have neither lent for interest,
Nor have men lent to me for interest.
Every one of them curses me.”

This is quite understandable, considering that the period of trials is naturally not such an interesting or exciting one. Sadly, the devil knows that getting people to think that God does not truly care for them as much as He says, is an easy way to get them to turn their back against God.

Unfortunately, some people never recover from their decision to turn their back against God as a result of the seemingly unpleasant situation(s) they were faced with that resulted in such decision.

Truth be said, life is not smooth in the real sense. Humans are confronted with several challenges at different stages, yet the ability to stay strong and relentless is what qualifies us for the next stage and then the next, and then the next…….

ROMANS 8:28(NKJV)

” And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

It is also sad, yet true that no one can understand what you are confronted with, the way you can, which is the reason you find out you are sometimes bitter towards others, because you think they are not there for you as they should, especially when you need them most.

As much as this is  truly not nice of others, this is what life is! No one can feel your pain the way you do, except the One who made You and went through so much pain and shame all because of you.

Expecting so much from people when life becomes really difficult is a dangerous thing. It leaves you discouraged, bitter and judgmental, all of which are unhealthy to both your Spiritual and Mental well being.

As much as trials are not so palatable, there are certain lessons that come with them, that actually makes us better people at the end of the day( This could mean weeks, months or years actually).

The time of trial is the time to grow, because at such times,we seek God more – this comes naturally. When everything seems to be going as we expect, the human nature tends to relax and enjoy every bit of  the moment.

At such times (unpleasant), we are also able to discover how dependent we truly are on God and how much we cannot rely on ourselves or anybody else. The closest person to you can sleep off while you are confronted with deep sorrow, so much that sleep is the last thing on your mind, yet the other person may find himself snoring without even knowing it.

God feels your pains more than you know, He knows what you are going through and is not unmoved by your tears and groaning, but He also knows how much glory your perseverance and trust in Him will bring to Him.

ROMANS 5 :1-4

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;  and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

Instead of concentrating on the pain, sorrow, and unpleasant situation of the moment, it will do us good to focus on keeping our eyes on the One who knows our every weakness and pain, obeying Him at such times, talking to Him and praying to find out how He might decide to use such situations for His glory and honor and also for the expansion of His kingdom .

When Jesus went to the Cross, He reconciled the world back to the father, this includes the Jews and the Gentiles, yet this was only possible as a result of the sufferings He went through on the Cross. It was unpleasant, yet it brought glory to God.

The unpleasant situation you are faced with is not going to last forever, It will come to an end sooner than you expect. Just look up to Him and focus less on what anyone has to say or do for you at such a time.

IT WILL END IN PRAISE AND BRING HIM GLORY .
