Someone gave me a gift that touched my heart in a special way yesterday. The value I place on this gift is not a function of how expensive it is or not, but the thoughtfulness of the giver.
As I thought of where to place that gift in my house, I decided to put it in a place where I can easily see it everyday. My decision is based on how much I cherish the gift.
To someone who visits me and sees where I place this valued gift, it might not make sense, considering that he or she feels it is not a treasure in the real sense of what the world calls a treasure. For me however, it is a treasure- My treasure. The value I place on it is what makes it a treasure and not what anyone thinks about it.
This is how God sees you, even when nobody else sees you the same way. God sees you as His valued treasure, a Child of His that is special and is worth being used to display His glory for the World to see.
DEUTERONOMY 7:6
“For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.”
It does not really matter how others see you, or where they think you should operate from and how much value they place on you. What God says and decides to do for and through you is what really matters.
As long as God decides to call you His own, the value He places on you is so great that what has been before does not determine what will be, neither does who you or who the world say you are determine what He can make out of you.
No one has the right to make you feel less of who you are. It is the owner of a product that determines what value He places on such product. The product however has the primary responsibility to work according to the manufacturer’s stated instructions.
EXODUS 19:5
” Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine.”
As I type these words tonight, I keep looking at my treasured gift and the value I place on it is irrespective of what anyone thinks or says. As far as I am concerned, it is one of the best gifts I have ever received, just as You are one of the best gifts Heaven has given to the world.
How God sees you is exactly how you are. Esther was seen as an orphan, God saw her as a queen. Abraham was seen as barren, God saw him as a father of many Nations. Saul was seen as a murderer, God saw him as an Apostle of Apostles. Esau was seen as a perpetual loser, God saw him as a victor. Goliath was seen as a giant, God saw him as a dog. Jesus was seen as an ordinary person, God saw Him as the Savior of the world.
You are worth more than you know as God’s child. In the sight of the One who made you and gave you His son for your salvation, you are of so much value that He will do anything to keep you safe, including giving the life of others for your sake, because as the owner of a treasure, you are to keep it safe to avoid losing it. This is exactly what God does for His own.
ISAIAH 43:4
“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. “
You are indeed worth more than you know. You are of great value, treasured by the One True Eternal God.
